1. Describe your job.

My daily duties and activities as a Utility Billing & Customer Services Representative include performing billing, accounting, and financial duties for water and sewer customers and responding to customer questions about utility payments, requests for service, and complaints. I also work closely with field staff to assess needed repairs.

2. How did you get into this field?

After retiring from a long, successful career in the technology industry, I was working for a temp agency and testing the waters for different opportunities when I landed at DSRSD as a temporary employee. Soon afterwards, the opportunity to apply for a full-time position arose and I jumped at it! Working for DSRSD was an excellent fit for me. I was hired as a full-time employee in November 2022.

As a California native I have witnessed and lived through several droughts. Water consciousness and conservation have become topics about which I care deeply. Working for DSRSD allows me to directly influence and contribute to managing California’s water resources – by working directly with customers and educating them on water usage, monitoring, and best practices.   

3. What do you like best about your job?

I really enjoy interacting with DSRSD customers over the phone and in person. I enjoy helping the customers resolve their issue, whether it’s a question or a complaint. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction resolving customer issues.

4. What is the biggest challenge of your position?

The biggest challenge of my position is collecting overdue payments from customers who have moved and no longer reside in the area.

5. What is something unique about yourself?

I possess extensive knowledge and skills in the field of residential real estate rehabilitation and flipping. I thoroughly enjoy transforming tired and dated houses into clean, modern, tasteful properties.

6. What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy gardening and home projects around the house. In my spare time you can find me working out, spending time with and caring for my elderly parents, and spoiling my two Persian cats.
